With all the St. Patrick’s Day festivals coming up and beer drinking makes it easy to get off track and forget about fitness. But not you!

We are going to take your workouts to the next level with this fun and festive St. Patrick’s Day themed workout routine and healthy ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. 

Healthy Ways To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Green Smoothie

Whip up a healthy and delicious green smoothie to start the day and fuel you with energy throughout the day. This is a perfect after workout drink or a festive breakfast for the kids. The delightful blend of the fruit and spinach will be light and absolutely delicious. 

Here is an easy Green Smoothie recipe

Apples, spinach, banana, almond milk, and a little bit of avocado. Throw all of these ingredients in a blender and let it rip! This will be a delightful treat and perfect detox if you’ve had a few too many beers at the St. Patrick’s Day festival. 

Green Snacks (Veggies and fruit)

If you’re having a St. Patrick’s Day party, this is an easy appetizer and display to have a table of fresh green vegetables like celery and green dip, asparagus, air-fried panko crusted zucchini, avocado fries, and stuffed jalapenos. Your guests’ mouths will be watering as soon as they see your appetizers.

Register for a St. Patrick’s Day 5K marathon in your town. Invite a few friends and dress up in green, dye your hair green, or dress up like a leprechaun. There are some 5k marathons that have festivals after the race with music, food, and yes even a beer garden.

Have you ever seen Riverdance and tried to emulate the skilled dancing moves? You definitely need to sign up for this heart racing , foot stomping dance class. 

Outdoor Boot Camp

Springtime is a great time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air with an outdoor boot camp. This can be a nice change of pace from the gym with exercises focused on building strength and burn fat.  Boot camp classes have circuit training, short distance running, sports drills, and so much more. 

Attend a St. Patrick’s Day Parade and festival

There are thousands of St. Patrick’s Day Parades held across the country. Enjoy marching bands, color guards, and floats. This is fun for the whole family! Get a few extra steps in and check out the festival with Irish music, dancers, and Irish cuisine. 

Plan a St. Patrick’s Day Workout Scavenger Hunt

If your looking for a little adventure why not host a St. Patrick’s Day scavenger hunt at a local park. Create clues that describe a workout movement and the participants have to perform the exercise and then move on to find the next clue. The winners can receive a St. Patrick’s day gift basket or free drinks at the local pub.

St. Patrick’s Day Fun Run

If you’re looking for a good workout and a fun way to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day then a fun run might be right up your alley. Fun runs typically have a theme and dressing up is encouraged. Invite your family and friends to join in on the fun. You don’t have to run the race if you don’t want to. The festive atmosphere and upbeat music will keep you smiling and moving.

The luck of the Irish are with you as you hike your local trails. Celebrate spring and everything green with an invigorating hike. Plan ahead and have a scenic lunch before the end of the hike. 

St. Patrick’s Day Workout

Get your Shamrockin body in shape with this fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This workout can be done just about anywhere and can be modified if you wish. Perform this workout in two or three circuits and you’ll definitely get a good and sweaty workout. 

Irish jig

My version of an Irish jig is using Plyometrics like Bounding which looks like an exaggerated skip.  This exercise will help you gain  strength and speed.. 

Leprechaun lunges

Tone up those legs and glutes with walking lunges. To make it even harder, carry dumbbells to get your heart rate up.

Guinness Curls

Pretend that you’re holding two pints of beer and get those biceps working. To get the most  out of your workout, slow down each movement with good form. 

Golden Nugget Slams

Grab a slam ball and throw down to the floor with all your might for 30 seconds. This is a great way to build core strength and keep your heart rate up. 

Lucky Jump Squats

Are you feeling lucky? Well after these jump squats you might not feel that way. To add more difficulty add a slam ball and pretend that it’s a golden nugget. Slam the ball to the floor and do an air squat. Land and do the exercise again for 30 seconds.

Shamrock Climbers

I have to admit that mountain climbers are my most hated exercise but this full body workout gets your heart rate up and have you sweating! If you’re a beginner try 30 second rounds three times until you gain more endurance. 

Kiss Me I’m Irish Sit Ups

This is a great exercise to do with a partner (preferably someone that you like!). Have your partner hood your feet and do a full sit up. If you’re training solo, lay on your back and extend your legs. Grab a light dumbbell for added resistance, holding one with both hands and keeping the weight above your head through the exercise. Do a full set for one minute on and one minute off for three rounds. 

St. Patrick’s Day is all about celebrating a great saint and Irish culture and celebrating with food, music  and beer is part of the tradition, but don’t forget to start your own healthy traditions with these activities.
