Hallmark Movies You Must Watch

Hallmark gets a bad rap! Many people hate Hallmark because their movies are wholesome and sometimes a little cheesy, but I think their movies are pretty good. If you’re looking for a light-hearted and uplifting holiday movie, look no further than The Hallmark Channel. I’m sharing my must watch Hallmark Movies.

So put on your Christmas jammies, grab some hot cocoa and popcorn and get ready to get in the holiday spirit.

Reasons Why I Love Hallmark Movies

First, I’d like to explain my deep affection for Hallmark Movies because some people just don’t get it. Hallmark has a way of getting into your heart with its sweet and sappy love stories. In addition, their movies provide a safe and kind viewing experience that isn’t going to shock you with foul language, sexualized characters, or violence. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a complete prude or scaredy-cat, but nowadays, things are so in your face, and I’m not a fan.

It’s a time to get away from the negative news and politics and focus on the real meaning of life, joy, and family. It’s a chance to escape and visit dream winter vacation locations that some of us haven’t had the opportunity to experience. Or to live vicariously through the characters to find love first. Yeah, I know it might seem lame, but it’s nice for a person like me to check out reality for a while and focus on the possibilities that life can bring.

Loving Hallmark seems to be a family trait on my Mom’s side of the family. So after Thanksgiving dinner, I introduced my aunt to the Hallmark Movie Checklist app. So I finally downloaded this app a few weeks ago, specifically to figure out how many movies I have watched. I was surprised by how many movies I have seen over the years.

Now that I’ve explained my reasons for loving Hallmark so much, I have some of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies to share. So far, I’ve counted that I’ve seen 55 Hallmark Christmas movies, and I still have a lot more. Of course, some are better than others, but I still enjoy them all.

Top Three Favorite Hallmark Movies That You Must Watch

I Want A Boyfriend For Christmas (2004)

This is my favorite Hallmark Christmas movie ever! It stars Kelly Williams (most famously known for her time on the hit television show “The Practice” ) and Patrick Muldoon. The story is about a teenage girl named Holly who makes a wish to Santa asking for a boyfriend for Christmas. She eagerly anticipates getting her wish but only received a snow globe telling her that during the 30th year she will find her true love. Holly is disappointed and learns that she can’t rely on Santa to bring her what she wants. Patrick Muldoon plays Ryan who is an up and coming lawyer who happens to cross paths with her on a case that he neglected to appear in court for. What I love about this story is Holly and Ryan’s love doesn’t happen immediately, but their love grows throughout the movie.

What I also enjoy most about this movie is remembering the times in a young girl’s life that she wants to find her true love and that flicker of hope may fade but it never truly goes away. I’m sure every girl at some point makes a wish to find their true love and gets disappointed along the way. I also love the opening song “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses. I never heard this song until I watched this movie and now it’s one of my favorite Christmas songs on my Holiday playlist.

The storyline may not be believable but it’s funny and sweet.

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year (2008)

This movie has to be one of the funniest Christmas movies and how can you not love a movie with “The Fonz” Henry Winkler. The movie is about a single mom (the beautiful Brooke Burns) who is so busy with her career that she’s become a Scoorge. She doesn’t even decorate her house, to the dismay of her festive neighbors. Her uncle (Henry Winklers) character is flying in for the holiday and meets up with a wanderlust traveler named Morgan who ends up being stranded at the airport due to a canceled flight and invites him to come with him to his niece’s house for Christmas.

I love this film because of its humor, in particular Jennifer’s idea of Christmas, which is putting up a giant wreath that keeps falling off the door each time that she shuts it.  Morgan (played by actor Warren Christie) shows Jennifer the true meaning of Christmas and how to lighten up and have fun. This movie should ring true for a lot of us because everyone is so wrapped up in their career and rushing around, that they forget the wonder of the holiday season.

Holiday Date (2019)

One of my favorite soap opera stars Matt Cohen stars in one of my newest favorite movies. Brooke (Brittany Bristow) is dumped right before the holidays and enlists a mutual friend and actor Joel to play the part of her boyfriend when she visits her parents at Christmas. The funniest part about this movie is that Joel is Jewish and has never celebrated Christmas, so when its time to find the most perfect Christmas tree, he finds the most over the top tree that he could find. Everything is going fine until one of Brooke’s friend posts a photo of her with Joel and tags her ex-boyfriend Ethan and her real ex-boyfriend comes into town unexpectedly.
