I absolutely love a tea party! There is nothing like dressing up like your about to attend a Royal Wedding and feasting on scones and tea. There are some cute tea house in just about every big city. My favorite tea house is in San Juan Capistrano, California called The Tea House on Los Rios. They came up with a Mother’s Day Tea House to go package that had everything you need for a elegant tea party. Scones, tea, California Cream, and preserves.

You can easily recreate an intimate tea party at home with a few of your closest friends. You can have a tea party potluck and have your friends bring pastries, scones, and finger sandwiches. If you don’t have fancy tableware don’t worry you can use paper plates and coffee mugs. You can also check with your local tea house to see if their doing to-go orders.

Crafting Party

Hosting a craft night can be a fun and creative way to spend with friends. Bring out some wine, cheese platter, and tons of craft materials. Creating vision boards and collages are a great way to use the extra magazine lying around the house. Friends can bring over their own material and you can provide the space and refreshments. Cover a table with a cheap plastic table cloth and provide plenty of glue, tape and stickers.

If you have friends that don’t live near you they don’t have to miss out! Another way to create vision boards without the mess is on Pinterest. Set up a Zoom meeting and share your screen with your friends. You can discuss your dreams and look for pictures. You can also collaborate on a Pinterest board together. My friend Alyssa and I did this recently (but in person) and it was a lot of fun. We were on our cellphones and looking for pictures and drinking cocktails.

Spa Night

Hosting Spa Night is a fun, relaxing way to spend a low key evening with friends. The great thing about spa night is that most of items that you need you have at home or you can easily pick up at the Dollar Tree. Invite your friends to your place and have them wear their pajamas or robes. Provide delicious healthy snacks like: nuts, fresh fruit, salads and turkey wraps. Pick up some cheap nail polish and plastic tubs for soaking your feet and fingernails. Set the mood for relaxation with soft music and aromatherapy candles. Don’t forget the cucumber water and champagne!

Chopped Home Edition

You might notice a theme in this list. Each ideas has two main elements: food and booze. Here is another fun way to get your friends involved in some friendly competition. Chopped Challenge is inspired by cooking competition Food Network show Chopped. Come up with a list of random ingredients and set a timer and start cooking. Frugal Minimalist Kitchen wrote a fun post on having Chopped Challenge at home. She provided a list of ingredients and judging criteria that you can print out and follow. Have a family members be a judge of the competition and the prize can be money, bragging rights, or a trophy.

Clothing swap party

Clean out your closet and invite your girlfriends over to your house. I’d separate the clothes by color and outfit type and lay them out on tables and chairs. Put on some cheesy 80’s fashion model music and shop till you drop. Any left over clothes can be donated to homeless shelter or Goodwill.

Sunday Brunch

Host a low key outdoor Sunday brunch! Serve delicious pastries, fruit, eggs, bacon and don’t forget the mimosas! Have everyone wear their Sunday best and watch Sunday church serves together. You can include some fun outdoor games like cornhole or scavenger hunt in your home or around the neighborhood.

Book Club

If your an avid reader why not host a small book club! You can get ideas for books on Oprah’s book club list. You can easily buy a couple of copies of the book and give it to your friends as a gift. You can also do a virtual book club or bible study group if you have more friends that you’d like to invite.

Grocery Store Scavenger Hunt

Do you have shopping to do? Do you want to get away from your kids for a few hours? Text your girlfriends and meet up to grocery shop together. Get your facial covers on and divide up your grocery list. Who ever makes it to the cash register first wins! This can also give your friends time to do their own shopping and catch up with friends.

Start a walking group

Social distancing definitely put a damper on getting 10,000 steps a day. Have no fear! Start a walking group with your closest friends. Set a time and a place to meet up with them and get moving. I’d suggest meeting in the early morning or right before sunset. There will be less people walking in the neighborhood or on trails.

Jewelry Making

If you enjoy getting creative then making jewelry making is for you. Order a kit on Amazon or pick one up at your local craft store or Walmart. You can make bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rosaries and give them away to friends. You might even be able to sell them on Etsy!
