The Ultimate Nighttime Skincare Routine
Summer is here, and we have to take even better care of our skin. In this article, The Ultimate Nighttime Skincare Routine, I’ll share the products I’ve been using. Our skin takes a beating from the sun during the summer, a hot and dry weather condition that can create breakouts, oily, or dry skin. My new nighttime beauty routine was inspired because I noticed that my skin under my neck and chin was losing its tone. I also noticed that my face was looking puffy from fluid retention, and I needed to do something about it. I’ll share each step of my nighttime beauty routine with you and the results I’ve seen over the last few weeks.
The Ultimate Nighttime Skincare Routine
The first step in my nighttime beauty routine is to remove all of my makeup. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes is my go-to makeup remover. I love this product because it doesn’t irritate or dry out my skin. I also like that they are non-scented and do a pretty good job of removing my makeup. It takes two towelettes to remove all of my makeup.
This is one critical step that I was missing in my nighttime beauty routine. I would assume that one makeup remover towelette would get all of my makeup off, but it doesn’t. Use two or three makeup removing wipes to make sure that you clear your skin of any makeup. When your last cloth has little to no makeup residue, then it’s time for the next step.
Nighttime Energy Cleansing Shower
Taking a shower before bedtime is a great way to get your body to relax. A shower is a type of buffer signaling my body that it’s time to get ready for sleep mode. Water is also a way to cleanse your body’s energy field and any energy that you may have absorbed from others. This step of my nighttime beauty routine is critical, especially if you’re an empath. It will even help you sleep better!
Murad Clarifying Cleanser
The next step in my nighttime beauty routine is to wash my face with Murad Clarifying Cleanser. You can feel this facial cleanser getting deep into your pores and pulling out any oil or dirt on your face. If you’re prone to breakouts, I’d highly recommend this product. The cleanser is formulated to clear breakouts and prevent future breakouts and is perfect if your skin is oily, combination, or sensitive.
Rose Water Facial Mist
The next step is spraying Rose Water Facial Mist onto my face. The facial mist provides extra hydration to my face during the night. I love the smell of the rose water and soothing aloe on my face.
Ordinary Rose Hips Seed Face Oil
The next step is applying two drops of Ordinary Rose Hips Face Oil to my hands and gently apply it to my face, neck, and chest. I put the drops on my hand and rub my hands together to heat the oil. The oil will provide extra hydration during the night and will help the Gua Sha jade tool glides smoothly over your face. Ordinary Rose Hips Seed Oil is organic and claims to have anti-aging properties. I’ve only used the product for a few weeks now, and I love the way my skin feels. Before using this product, make sure to spot test the oil on your hand to see if you react.
Gua Sha Jade Tool
Gua Sha Jade Tool is a game-changer if you want to improve the quality of your skin. I was looking for a product that would help tighten the skin under my chin. I’ve noticed that I’m getting a double chin and my face is looking puffy. Most of this puffiness is from retaining water, so I knew that I needed a tool that would help drain the lymphatic system.
A Gua Sha jade tool has been used as a beauty ritual since ancient times. The tool’s purpose is to increase the benefits of your beauty product (serum, lotion, or oil). The tool also helps to encourage your lymphatic system to drain and increase blood circulation to your face giving you skin a radiant appearance. I went on YouTube to learn how to use the Gua Sha tool properly.
For a detailed tutorial on how to use Gua Sha tool and the benefits of using this tool, check out this video on Lanshin Youtube page. This video is the basics of my new nighttime beauty routine, so it’s definitely worth watching.
I’ve been using the Gua Shua tool every other day for the past three weeks, and so far, I love the results. My face is less puffy, and the skin under my chin is slowly starting to tighten up.
Jade Face Roller
Another tool that I use is a Jade Face Roller. I’ll use the Jade Face Roller on the nights that I’m not using the Gua Shua tool. The benefit of using a Jade roller is that it helps smooth skin and relaxes fine lines on your face and neck. The rolling motions help to drain the lymphatic system, and the cold jade helps to rejuvenate the skin. I’ll also use the Jade Face Roller in the morning if my face looks puffy.
Facial Exercises
You might notice that I’m going a little crazy on my nighttime beauty routine. I saw some changes in my face as I near my 40’s so I have to put in the effort to keep my skin in tip-top shape. Facial exercises are something I’ve been researching for the last two years, but I haven’t implemented them on a regular base until recently.
Pinterest is an excellent resource for facial exercise ideas. Neck rolls, fishy face, and head tilts are some of the names of the exercises. I’ve been making a point to do my facial exercise before bed, or taking a break from the computer and stretch my neck.
Facial Mask
I’m on a facial mask kick recently. When I feel a twinge of stress, I put on a facial mask and watch television or read a book. Two of my favorite mask are the Dead Sea Mud Mask, and Avocado and Oatmeal mask. I loved the way my skin feels after washing off the mask. I’ve been applying a mask to my face every 3-4 days.
